Creation of an Artist
Creation of an Artist is a representation of the uniqueness that the careers and lives of artists have, because there is no longer a clear and distinct separation between personal and professional identity. Our jobs as artists, define us wholly and entirely. My photographs reflect how identity and art are mirror images, never again existing without the other. A part of our souls or even our sanity, go into every work that we make. This means we don’t have the luxury of masking ourselves or being inauthentic, and still creating work that we feel is excellent. Artists exist in a never ending cycle of creation, whether that be our art, or ourselves. My series serves as a reminder to artists that the most magnificent work of art they will ever create is themselves, and that our art, although always tied to us, does not define our worth as individuals. We need to allow ourselves to feel, and express these feelings, whether good or bad, in what we create.
